ACT Global is about finding and applying solutions for a more sustainable world. The earth will be around for some time to come, but what role do we play in the future?
ACT Global brings together parties to share their knowledge, creativity and passion.
During the event Time2ACT 2009 on April the 20th last ACT Global successfully put one of her first icons on the agenda: the Plastic Soup. Can we clean up a the gigantic, everincreasing amount of rubbish floating about in the North Pacific Gyre in the northern part of the Pacific and stop it from growing?
The province of Fryslân and Leeuwarden municipality supported ACT Global to make Time2ACT 2009 happen. With expert Captain Charles Moore, who discovered the Plastic Soup near Hawaii, the problem of plastic waste in the oceans was discussed. For more information on his research activities, see www.alguita.com. Next in the programme a very special book release The Plastic Soup, by author Jesse Goossens (the book can be ordered through her personal website). Other interesting and remarkable people were also invited to tell about, discuss and make an effort to solve the problem of the plastic garbage in the oceans. The event was recorded for a special broadcast by National Geographic Channel on April 22 (International Earth Day). Soon you can watch the interviews online.
The Time2ACT 2009 event and the Plastic Soup attracted a lot of attention in the news as you can see on the ACT News Network pages. The ACT News Network keeps you updated on the latest news regarding our search for a solution for the Plastic Soup.
