LET’S SOLVE IT!

This is an educational concept for secondary schools connected to ACT Global. Emulating the students in the War Rooms, pupils will go and examine issues in their own environment.

Let’s solve it! will be an instrument to put science subjects at school in a broader social context, so that learning activities that are being developed will also find their place in the alpha and gamma subjects (arts and humanities): an ideal starting point for multidisciplinary projects. The teaching modules and projects we develop adhere to the following general structure:

‘Let’s find out’: This is step One of the learning activity during which the investigative qualities of young people get stimulated. Students will examine the problem using the scientific methods. The projects and bits of research will be carried out in the immediate surroundings of school or home;

‘Let’s invent’: This is step Two in which the inventor, latent in many young people, will be encouraged. Students will go and look for technological solutions to the problem and try to apply these;

‘Let’s take care of it’: This is step Three in which the caring qualities of young people are given room to flourish. Here the students will discover that a technical solution is not enough to fully solve a problem. Arranging a favourable social and cultural framework is a prerequisite for successful implementation of technology;

‘Let’s do it’: This is step Four. In this part, fast learners and students with questions that dig a little bit deeper can specialize themselves in subjects that are given a chance to be further developed and studied within the framework of ACT Global.

Initially this concept will be developed for Dutch educational projects:
